* Circle -Jams

Do you play the guitar, mandolin, banjo, fiddle, dobro or upright bass? Would you like to improve your skills on your instrument? Are you feeling too shy to sing at a mic in front of a crowd but think you might like to try singing in a cirlcle?  Are you tired of playing alone in a living room and ready for the excitement, fun and energy that you will get playing with a group of people?   Are you an experienced player and singer who would like to come out to support and inspire others?

The bluegrass circle jam is a fun and welcoming way for beginning or shy bluegrass pickers and singers to come in a relaxed and safe inviroment to improve there playing and singing and to learn to play with others. It’s also a great opportunity for those who are more experinced to show off there skills and inspire others.

CIRCLE-JAM SONGBOOK:

A songbook isn’t required at a bluegrass jam, but it sure comes in handy for those new to bluegrass or those looking for a new song to sing. Our 3rd edition of the book now has 132 bluegrass songs (47 new) and 70 bluegrass tunes has been compiled by the Summerland Bluegrass Society as part of its mission to preserve and promote bluegrass and old-time country music in the Okanagan region. Our professionally printed and bound songbook is available for purchase at the jams for $21 for members and $25 for non-members, or you can access the digital copy for free. The first printed copy of the 3rd edition is ready and can be purchased at any of our jams. You can download the copy for free. Here.

NEW THIS SEASON!

Rotary Centre for the Arts Bluegrass Open-Mic
Fourth Thursday of the Month
Our next is on Thursday, January 22, 2026
RCA Atrium, 421 Cawston Avenue, Kelowna – 7:30-9:00 PM

Come out to the Rotary Centre for the Arts on the fourth Thursday of the month to enjoy refreshments, while listening to some fantastic bluegrass music.

Accomplished Kelowna banjo player, Mickey Reeves, has put together a first class group of bluegrass pickers to play some favourite bluegrass tunes, and to backup our open-mic performers.

Here is your chance to sing your favourite songs on the stage, with an amazing group of bluegrass musicians backing you up.

SIGN UP
The open-mic will be organized by advance sign-up. If you would like to perform, fill out a request form here.

Singers will be expected to sing two songs that they can sing from memory. Songs should be ones that you have performed before and that you can confidently sing in front of a crowd. You are welcome to play your instrument of choice while you perform. To assist the backup band, songs must come from the Summerland Bluegrass Society Songbook.

Patrons are welcome to purchase food and drinks from the Roma Nord Bistro located in the Rotary Centre for the Arts.

This event is free to attend and no reservations are necessary. Tip jars are located on the tables, so please bring cash to support the musicians and the Summerland Bluegrass Society.
